Overpriced as in generally expensive? Or overpriced compared to what you get?
When I was in Manchester for the track world cup - our hotel was supposedly pretty nifty. Food was very very poor. Hotel facilities like internet access were all subject to outrageous surcharges.
Like everywhere - I think there is good value to be had, if you know where to find it. It just won't be on the beaten track. And that seems to be what that article is about.
Luckily I used to live in Manchester so had no problems finding the good value for money outside the hotel.
