Original Pace RC30 Forks - Now Sold!

Hello everyone!

Had these sitting around for a while so decided to move them on, proper old school 395mm A/C (circa 1989-1990) Reynolds 531 legged example, cantilever brake bosses, few scratches and chips but still very nice indeed.

Does come with a 1" threadless steerer but it appears to have stress fractures running all the way along it so I would not use (hence no dimensions!).

Looking for GBP 135.00 posted to the U.K., overseas might be a little more....

Thanks for looking
Stu

Re:

Great forks - I run a pair of these myself, as well as the later mk.2 & 3, an always preferred the feel for the 531 version to the later Columbus legged version. The drop outs on the mk/1 are bombproof too and really nicely made - and the blades can be properly fully colour coded to your bike frame, and always look good.

Anybody restoring an early RC100/200 should also definitely buy them - get them painted Flo yellow and restore the 531 decals to the upper legs - perfect.

Thanks Masha, couldn't have put it better myself :)

Re:

Thanks - yes, they are classics alright and don't come up for sale very often (in mk.1 Reynolds 531 blade form). They are also a great fork to have on pre suspension adjusted frame geometry. I first had a pair on a prestige framed Ridgeback 704XT in the mid '90s and then moved them to an early Marin Team ti frame - and that was a brilliant package with this fork and a Syncros cattleprod stem - really suited the bike. After selling my Team Ti with the fork a over decade ago, I finally found another pair last year, as I'd always regretted selling the Mk.1 pace fork. There are also so many options for fitment with the modular crown - in many ways the RC30 remains the perfect retro rigid fork. (I always wanted some Tange switchblades, Bontrager rigids, or the Kona track2 modular fork - but in the UK, crowns and steerers area like hens teeth - so I always stuck with the equally capable Pace fork).

The ultimate Pace RC30 has to be the prototype Merlin-branded ti-legged Pace RC30 , I saw these briefly at Bike'95 in London on their stand (along with another pair badged simply "MMC" for metal matrix composite), and once in a magazine, but never again since... but for everything else your Reynolds 531 legged version is the next best option for a great British retro build.

Re: Original Pace RC30 Forks

BTW - replacement A-head alloy steerers readily available for these forks - and Stu's particular fork has the 1,1/4" shim in the crown so will fit any steerer diameter.
see Old School Hero's thread on here - he'll turn you one any shape and size for £20 viewtopic.php?f=2&t=310447&hilit=pace+steerer

Stu - if you want to sell with a good steel steerer - I can supply you my old one for a £5er+post - its cheap 'cos its steel, 1" threaded and only about 150mm long - so only fits some 15-17" frames really.

Good luck

Re: Original Pace RC30 Forks

Thanks for the offer on the steerer masha but I'll see if they sell as they are :)

Re:

sure, no problem - and if anyone wants a 1" threaded steerer when they buy them, they know where I am.

good luck

Re:

These may well be a bit rich for him, but I have a mate who is looking for a replacement fork on an Ozone C02, I will ask him about them for you
