hi all, iv just been trying to find a replacement steerer for my manitou travis forks and the only place i can get one from is america  iv been quoted 140 dollars for the part and 50 dollars shipping. anybody had experience ordering stuff like this before? as i dont want to hand that sort of cash over and get bummed. maybe i should bin em and forget about it :(

The only thing ive got from the States was a CK devolution 1 1/4-1 1/8" and it cost me $24 postage then another £9 or so from the customs people.Take heart though,i sold someone wheels in Tasmania and the postage was £80

Most steerers are likely to fit unless its a weird shape. For instance the marzocchi steerer for the removable crown fits RST steerers and vice versa

Whether or not you get bummed, raped or whatever you wish to call it,kind of depends if you're going to meet the seller down some dark alley.

OH you mean as in ripped off.
 Sorry

lol cheers for the advice :D i wish i had researched sourcing parts before i got them as its been a nightmare. i think they will go in the cupboard for another day :)

 i didnt pay that for the forks! would be ok if my frame had a head tube shorter than 140 mm :D

The 203 length version should be long enough, its the price thats the problem. I had the same problem with some SIDs, sold them in the end. Got some new Rebas, and my head tube is 150mm!!!
