Orange clockwork finished p11 bit of a squeeze.

Re: Here we go again clockwork.

Because you'll be my age?!

It's actually a really nice sparkly subtle yellow. Mixed build though. Stuff I have and that works. Spent on decals and paint so make do and mend. Got some lovely orange cables though!!!!!!!!! Pure sex.

Re: Here we go again clockwork.

Front end issues.

Too low for larger older stiffer version.

May have to go high bouncy 460mm a-c   modern bombers!

Re: Here we go again clockwork.

Won't that raise the bottom bracket and slacken off the angles? Also aren't bombers 1 1/8"?

Re: Here we go again clockwork.

Yes, yes, and no. Would be interesting no? Tell me how that affects ride please?

Same as a motorcycle, you change the rake and trail angles and it effects steering.

By fitting longer A to C forks you are effectively lifting the head tube up and so pushing the rake out, this will slow the steering down, and pushed to extreme, actually mean the bike is great in a straight line, but very slow / difficult to corner. In increasing the rake, you will also increase the trail, and this again will make the bike more stable in a straight line, but harder to corner.

As an additional effect (however minimal) you are also tipping the seat post back, so you are sitting further back over the back wheel / axle.

I have never messed about with this kind of thing on bicycles, so I don't know what the practical effects are; all my dealings with this area were with custom and racing motorcycles, a long long time ago.
