Orange clockwork (erm, or is it?)

It's not a clockwork, that's for sure (they're all steel frames) and possibly not an Orange frame at all.

It doesn't have a wishbone rear end, which eliminates almost all Orange hardtails after about 1993 ish (I think). The only new frames I know of that don't have them are the 2007 clockworks.

The only thing I can think is it could be one of Oranges 'jump' frames, I'm not clued up on them.

just sent him a couple of questions, see what he says. i said it wasn't a clockwork and likely not an orange but said it looked quite nice and would consider bidding if he told me a bit more about it.

just got a message back, admitted he put the stickers on after he bought it off a friend who had painted it but told him it was an orange. said he knew it wasn't a clockwork.

i said that didn't really answer the question of is it really an orange. have emailled again.

annoys me, the lack of honesty. i can understand people trying to make a little extra on something by rebadging a frame to make it look nicer or whatever but i wish they'd be honest, the frame looks basically ok so why not just say whatever frame painted like an orange rather than try and fool people, i think it is a bit wanky.

i think that honesty and a little history generally gets you more for an item even if it isn't in the best shape.

still waiting on a 2nd response but i think it is an older dawes/saracen/carrera taiwan frame, nothing special.

just got message back, says it's definately not stolen but will contact his mate to ask for original reciepts and warranty card etc, give him his due, he's trying!

he says i've got him paranoid now! his emails are polite though so doesn't come across as the usual thief/dodgy numpty, i suggested that he may have been lied to when he got it off his mate.

we'll see.

It's very hard to tell from the pics, but if the cable stops on the top tube are off-centre, then it could very well be an Orange Alu....
Another question to ask?

The early Orange Aluminium 'O' and 'Elite' didn't have wishbones...

I did think that when I saw it, but I don't think the rear triangle is right for an Ali O the seat stays aren't meaty enough. I can't see a canti cable hanger either.
