Just had to share my latest ebay catches with you..... This one on a buy it now for £100 pounds, didn't expect too much, but very pleasently surprised at how nice it is....not really much needs doing to it at all...

Fantastic.

I had the exact same gruppo on my P7 when I bought it. Those tektro brakes are surprisingly good!

Yep. Changing nothing. No suspension forks. No uprated to LX/XT/XTR. Nothing . It all works fine and is surprisingly light . Loving the Alivio at the mo. Just have to resist the temptation to tinker........

Excellent bike and they are silly value for money, but even so you have done particularly well there. The F7 fork is terrific, and as you say the way Orange built them up resulted in quite a light bike, even without bling parts. You might find the wheels were the one area that you could usefully upgrade.

I think it's a 1997 model, one of the last C16Rs, but it could be late 96. The serial number will tie it down if you want to be sure.
