ORANGE CLOCKWORK 1989 PROJECT.

Cheshire1980

Orange 🍊 Fan
Bought this early Orange Clockwork 1989? Frame and forks, from Brocklanders on here sometime back. Never been that sure how to build this up. It appears more Prestige in looks, Typically a 1991/92 Prestige with the decal design. Plus the bike does not specify its a clockwork. frame number is A309A0228. The frame is in fabulous condition 8)
Overall its not going to be a strict period correct build, it will have early parts to keep it retro and relevant. However its a case of using stuff I have lying around in the loft. Cant afford to be paying for parts currently. Also this build has been influenced partly by Prestige adverts from Mountain biker, and Orange bike adverts, and the Orange Brochure 1992. Seen Below.
The build so far has

Orange one piece bar and stem combo, this will need to be re sprayed, undecided whether to get a fresh decal made.
Mavic M231 CD rims in grey, with DX M650 Hubs. Front and Rear.
Tyres, Ritchey Megabite Z max Front amber wall tyre. Tioga Psycho 2 Amberwall Rear tyre.
Headset Suntour 1 inch
Front and Rear mech Shimano M550
Crankset Shimano M550
Pedals Shimano XT with some grubby St Christohphe toe straps.
Brakes MT62 XT
Orange Elite Bottle cage just likethe one pictured on the Prestige.
Saddle same as pictured in the Orange 92 Brochure on the Prestige. Velo VL 178 Brown saddle. Extremely Rare!
Seatpost Kalloy.

Re:

Nice to see this pop back up mate, the equally good condition groupset is about to find it's way to the orange/white I'm going to build. Still got the NOS Tange Infinity decal that came in a bag with this too. 8)

Yes got the tange decal to place on it...
Your orange/white clockwork 92 is going to be splendid Ed.
Still can’t get over how good the condition of this frame and forks are!

Re:

Yeah, the chap I got it from really loved it and was reluctant to let it go. He gave me some Halfords silicon polish that he used to clean it with every time he used it. Still got that and it's great stuff!
