I know it's a little early in the year but also know that we have some insiders on here  but does any one know of any radical changes to the Orange 5 for 2010? It seems to have evolved over the last few years where as the rest of the Orange full sussers seem to have changed quite a lot.

Reason I ask is that I'm considering changing my 2006 5 for a new one but don't want to jump in early if there's big changes a foot.

:D

I would hold out-
Not because the new model will be better, but because the old one will get cheaper.

i don't think it will change much from the present orange 5, they have just altered all the cables stops so there is alot less cable rub now but other than that i wouldn't expect too much change. bearing in mind the 5 has been trail bike of the year for 3 years i wouldn't expect them to mess with a winning formula.

they are looking at other new designs but the 5 is their mainstay model so it will stay for a few years yet. i have seen pictures of a more xc version of the blood though, same basic design but lighter and skinnier and not as agressive travel and angles. the only other possabilty is adding the swing link, there were some pics of a "strange prototype patriot" with a swing link so that might be a future thing for the 5 aswell.

here's a link for the patriot,

here's a pic of the xc blood proto

can i ask why you're thinking of changing it? surely if your riding has changed that much a completely different bike would be a better call?

CTK...... I know what you're saying but the last few 5's have not been reduced much when the new one has come out. Last year you were lucky to get £100 off. Got my current one when the 2007 model had just been released and saved a fair bit but guess it was because the top tube went from straight to bent so everyone wanted the shiny new design. Also, you tend not to be able spec the options on the run out model and I've got a specific build and colour in mind.

Jonnyboy.... Thanks for the link and pics. I think it'll probably not change much as well but may hold on for some spy shots. They usually turn up around the back end of summer and I'm in no rush. Might have a visit to the factory cos I live quite close. I'll post on here if I get any info. 8)

cce...... My riding has not really changed but I'm a bit of a tart when it comes to shiny new bits. All the justification I need is that I always wanted an orange one but got mine in the sale so got the stock grey. I can think of lots of other flimsy excuses too but the truth is I just fancy a new one. Oh, and I'll be able to break up the old one and complete my 2007 Clockwork using some of the parts! :D :D :D :D
