Opinions, to preserve or rebuild...

Okay, here's that longer description I promised. This is purely just storytelling on my part :)
So the green Voodoo Dambala pictured below is my Guerilla Soldier (And BTW, I'd love help figuring out the year of manufacture on it if anyone knows voodoo frames). I work at a University, where bike attrition can be high, so I built this out of a $50 facebook marketplace bike using my grungiest junk box components to keep it from looking too special because it lives near students full time. It is an absolute blast to go bombing around on and after getting it done I started thinking about a lighter, more special build for commuting (Our road infrastructure is pretty gnarly and I don't love riding my road bike on it). Last year I picked the OCLV up from our surplus dept for next to nothing thinking I'd flip it, but the fork needs a rebuild and the bikes don't seem to fetch much anyway... which led me to create this thread :).

I don't have another road drivetrain, but I do have a SS wheelset and a set of road brake levers... Since the voodoo is SS compatible, I think I'm going to convert it to SS, throw the drivetrain and wheelset on the Trek with all my other non-grungy goodies and make that my new commuter for when I'm not as occupied dropping kids off for school in the early mornings.

I work slow on projects like this so don't expect to see the finished result next week, but I'll be sure to pose updates as I have them.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I just needed a bump in the right direction and you all provided it!
