The 4 sets I've come into contact with over the years were all silver.

My understanding was that overtightening them was part of what caused breakage.

i've had a few pairs, never cracked any but used a torque wrench and also slightly undertightened them

they do look pretty indeed

By the way, i got these brakes running with black Kool Stops and Araya RM17 rims.
This set up brakes like hell, you got to be careful
Be sure you put the two different springs on the right side!
These brakes are pretty easy to install

Running mine with red Koolstops on Mavic 217 rims and i was very impressed indeed. They stop in all conditions, which is nice.
