I seem to remember the idea was to provide a cage, bit like Shimano 636's, but removable for weight saving.

Are the bottom ones not Ritchey's?

Bottom one;s probably Ritchey or similar.

Top Onza set are Onza HOX, came after the Onza HO's but until this site didn't know about them.
FirstFlight has some or some parts for of them.
A search whould bring up some info
