One of the last bikes made in Nottingham by the former great Raleigh

I love Raleigh, my grandmother lived within walking distance of the Wollaton factory and my dad went to the launch of the Chopper there. My first proper (ish) bike was a Raleigh Even More Extreme. I spent my youth lusting after various Raleigh RSPs.

However, the Activator was utter, utter garbage.

Looks like this one at least has alloy Rims and hubs.
I've seen activators with chromed steel Rims.
Put that together with plastic brake levers, even the Canti Crowd will walk away!

So to be fair, this model is just Utter Garbage - we should reserve "Utter, utter garbage" for the steel wheel number🤣

Knowing late 90s raleigh, there's probably a model below that too🤯

Fair! I'm specifically thinking of my friend's, which is the only one I've ridden. That was lower spec than this one, as it had one of those unicrown forks.
God it was horrible. Felt sorry for him, at the time I had a GT Outpost (bought from Super Cycles in Nottingham for £160 if I remember correctly) and my other MTB pal had a Cannondale. His parents weren't short of cash either, just a bad decision.

Noooooooo that's unfair, Ive got one of these & bought for next to nothing, Its a great "do what you want with it " kinda bike.....the front stems are 21mm so it opens up all the BMX stuff to be fitted to it - Ill try & get a pic up of mine

Ah memories, how we slated a guy on a Raleigh Activator 2 at the Catterick NEMBA DH way back when...... and then we all saw him ride it completely balls out. Respect to that rider.

But yeah, the bikes are still trash!
Harsh ! ............I challenge anyone not to have a smile when seeing that rubber bung rear suspension for the 1st time ..........mine certainly makes me smile when taken out for a gentle easy ride ......Im a kid again :) act1.webp act3.webp
