Hello, as the title says I suspect this is one for the girls to answer....

I need a saddle!!! Help!

Finally built my bike enough to ride it, went out Saturday and decided it wasn't overly comfortable (!) then went out again today. Not clever. My ass hurts. A lot!!

So I'm after recommendations on ladies saddles please?

I don't want to spend a fortune or make it look like some kind of sofa...

Thank you :)

i used to sell loads of the wtb speed she saddles, 20 or 30 quid for the serious lady cyclist and never had any complaints, also have a look at the fizik saddles, loads more money but apparently are very good, should both be available in all the usual places and a good local bike shop. :)

Hi,

I think saddles are a real problem. Had a fizik saddle on my last bike and it was horrible!

Most comfortable one I have is a Specialized gel saddle, not the latest model though but I have sometimrs seen an odd one like mine lurking on the bottom shelf of a bike shop.

The next most comfortable one I have is a cheap selle italia ladies saddle that cost less than £20 so you can never tell.

I've decided it's the width of the saddle that's important relative to the sit bones and I've seriously considered trying a bloke's saddle instead as they tend to be narrower and I think that's what I need.

It's good to see posts from another woman - I've often wondered if I'm the only one hovering around this forum!

Cheers

Carol

It definitely depends how far apart your sit bones are, even for guys, some guys love the narrow Flite saddles, others need something a bit wider. imo you just have to try a few until you find one that works.

ive got a specialized body geometry saddle that i got with a deal sometime,
ive never used it, its got a cut out bit in the middle and i think it might even be a ladies saddle .
anyway you could have it cheap,

my girlfriend uses specialised saddles, she got her butt measured in a specialised concept store !
its a gel pad you sit on and it measures your "sit bones" then once you have measured you go and pick the correct saddle for your size behind !!

my wife had a terrys saddle but finds my flite more comfortable but to be honest cycling shorts with a chmois make more of a difference than any saddle....

My missus uses a mans terry saddle which she found more comfortable than the ladies version. Apparently others have found this to be true as well.

I have a ladies saddle that your welcome to, its of no use to me! Its a no brand one, but yours for the price of the postage if you want it...
