Older BMW info needed. E30 especially

I had the chance to buy a 320i cabrio, it was near mint, manual and had a new hood


why o why did I not buy it... :cry:

Still plenty of em around... & cabs are cheap at the mo. Certainly wouldn't recommend a 320i auto (toooo slow in a cab shell), but a manual would have been an acceptable cruiser - as long as you could live with 325i economy & 318i pace!

It would have just been a sunday car.

The guy's name was SilverFang - he is a nice chap, just a bit more "in to" his cars than I am.

Hopefully he is looking after the car, I'm sure he will be because he spent half a day polishing it when he first took it away.

Think he had some head / cambelt issues recently, but got it sorted properly - certainly seems to be looking after it

He shouldn't have had cambelt issues, I spent £450 on a full belt service including the cambelt when I bought it about 2 years ago - I had only done 4000 miles since, so unless he has done another 56k miles he should be sitting pretty. Chap at the garage (E30 specialist) said it was one of the tightest engines he'd seen.

Ah well, at least he loves it.

Ouch - mind you although I occasionally drove quickly I never ranted it, so it might have happened during a particularly enthusiastic driving session. Nver mind, I'm sure he's fixed it now.

Would still be driving it now if I didn't have to have a modern company car

The one and only time I've ever driven a RWD was when I used to do Banger Racing.

It was my first time in the 2litre class (I normally did the 1.6 class), and I was driving a Sierra estate.

I was racing at Kings Lynn on the shale, and spent the whole time fishtailing all over the place. I got mullered! The car only survived 1 1/2 races, it was totally reshaped!
