Superlight XC race wheelset

Designed as a system, each component was selected by legendary guru Mr. Keith Bontrager to compliment each other to lose weight and gain strength:

- DT Hugi 240 Bontrager-spec hubs in black. The European equivalent of Chris King, some say better, I'd say about as good but not as shiney! The ratchet drive is supposed to be stronger than King's, and the DT's are lighter. Maintenence-free cartridge bearings, superbly sealed within the hub body. Lightweight oversized aluminium axles.

- DT black spokes, laced to Mr Bontragers design: 24-spoke radial front, 28-spoke rear with radial on non-cassette side.

- Bontrager Ceramic rims (black). Light and strong, great braking and Bontrager dependability. Front and rear specific. The rear rim has off-centre spokes to counter-balance the right side cassette, dramatically increasing wheel strength by reducing dish. Typical brilliant yet simple Bontrager design. Which works great.

Condition is very good. No play whatsoever in hubs.

Rims have no dings and hardly any wear to the ceramic coating either - they’ve only seen dry summer use.

Rear wheel could do with a true-up - I get a swish-swish on the brake blocks when they are set close to the rims. Front is fine, no swish-swish!

Pics as requested.

Excuse my dirty garage floor and a camera that is nearly as old as my bike ;)

I only ever have ceramic rims and the ceramic coating on these is still rough so not even worn in yet and they have never seen any wet or muddy braking.

No dents or gouges etc though some light marks from normal use.

Also just weighed them on very accurate digital scales. Actual weights are 635g front, 840g rear. Damn light for such strong wheels.

I also just noticed that the rims are double-eyeletted for extra strength.

Anyway... pics!
