In any case, I had taken it to a few bike shops over the weekend to see if I could get some advice, and each time I brought it in to show the broken seat-post to those bike shop guys, their jaws dropped open. I told them I wasn’t so sure that much could be done about it, and they all agreed that the best thing was to leave it with them so they could cut it up as it just wasn’t safe for someone to ride it like that. When I said I wasn’t so sure about letting it go just yet, and that I might just hang it on the wall, one of them even tried to insist that I leave it with them, so I guess it’s pretty serious. Those guys seemed pretty concerned, and some of them even offered me a deal on a new bike if I would leave the old bike with them so they could destroy it. They said they were professionals and had a lot of experience cutting up old frames, and they didn’t think I could do it on my own. I almost couldn’t get out of there, and one of those guys even followed me all the way to my car, the whole time trying to convince me it wasn’t safe the way it was.

Ok, maybe i need more Coffee, but cut up something that may be rescued back from the brink? and even then if not, what a great piece of wall art for the house, appartment, man cave!!!! and for the bike shop to be very persistant? a little too persistant for my liking, I have a hunch that they may have known the potential of this frame and seen $$$$ I may be totally wrong and off the mark but thats what i got from reading this thread. I say show some more pics, and whatever you do to this frame, keep it, keep it safe, hang it, and look at it and admire it and think of it as a part of your Retrobike History, or if it can be saved, ride it, enjoy it and most of all feel glad you didnt send it to the MTB Scrapyard in the sky..........

Anyway, I just spent over an hour in the shed with it trying to cut it with a hacksaw, and I’ll be damned if I didn’t wear out 4 hacksaw blades, and I even broke 2 of them, and I barely scratched the metal!

Please tell me this is a joke.

If you were unable to remove the post you should've sold it to someone on here who could. Like me for example.

The thought that you just killed a rare and valuable frame is very disappointing.

Shame on you

Well I see this thread had a lot of replies. Sorry I didn’t have time to read all the posts just yet; I’ll catch up with them after I get done with this damn frame.

I called in sick to work today; I think I threw my back out yesterday while using the hacksaw. On the bright side, I talked to my neighbor who’s always home (he’s retired), and he said he could lend me a cutting wheel for my grinder, so I can get started cutting right away.

Since I had to lose a day of work because this frame absolutely refuses to die, I’m waging a personal vendetta on this frame and redoubling my efforts to kill it. I’ll be damned if I let that Allen Cunningham character make a fool out of me!

Victory shall be mine, and in a few minutes it will all be over.

Pics of the grisly aftermath to be posted momentarily.

He claims to have spent an hour at it with a hacksaw yesterday.
I see no evidence of that. It's obviously a prank of some sort.

My question is; What kind of ******* dummy thinks this is a good idea for a thread?

Way to win friends there dude.
