Have to say I agree. Check out MBUK, every year without fail it does the same articles to cover new riders (adjust your brakes, change a tube etc), people don't say 'just buy a back issue'. It is down to us to help these new joiners.
Likewise, i feel that the search function is slightly ruined by people's signatures and by the for sale threads that never get shut down but constantly get added to creating 10 page monsters.
That said the biggest issue for me is that this place used to be populated by people who were there 'back in the day' and it was all about reminiscing about the bikes, races and riders of the day and about sharing that common experience. Now 'retro' is more of a pastime for people of all ages, after all I have bikes older that some new members! For these people it is less about sharing memories or experiences and more about building a retro bike for the joy of building a retro bike in much the same way that 30 year olds restore 1960s Mini Coopers. I think this is why a number of old members don't post - they signed up for one thing but evolution and growth of the site has taken it in another way.
