Oh no, not again.

Cracks like that could be the result of fatigue. If the headtube was slightly too small, it would be under a lot of stress (from the headset cups) all the time. Also, if the rider is jerking at the handlebars with every pedal stroke, that could put repeated stress on the top of the headset.

However it is much more likely that the crack resulted from inserting the headset the wrong way (with a hammer as opposed to the proper tools, and possibly at an angle as well).

I take my lengths from Sheldon Brown recommendations, but if you think it's wrong, please feel free to show me what's correct, so I can rethink.

its the rear cable going the mech that I was on about.... the fronts look fine.

I would have been worried about catching it on something and getting flung off the bike
