Oh Hermes, you suck!

Re:

As above Hermes are only as good as the guy they have delivering in that area, the guy who comes to me is great, however the guy who delivered a pair of £200 Xenon headlights I sent chucked them over the fence into the back garden
Also Hermes have a huge list of things "not covered" hence why the description of anything I send with them now is "Art"
I tend to lean towards Royal mail signed for for small items or parcel force 48 for the bigger bits, Hermes get the sizes inbetween

Re:

The old adage "pay peanuts, get monkeys" comes to mind.

I still use them though on occasion and most of the time it all works out in the end.

After a bit of faffing

Over 300 items sent this year with no catastrophic issues :)

Pretty good service to be fair and one claim made and I ended up getting the item back a few weeks later anyway (wierd)
Royal Mail on other hand - 3 items lost in the last 6 months :(

I sent things with them 3 or 4 times before they claimed to have left a parcel outside someone's house that went missing. It took months before I got compensation. I have also had some bike parts sent to me since then that went missing - it took the person on here months of contacting them and getting different stories before they said the parcel had been stolen. I avoid using them if at all possible and still haven't found alternative brakes and levers for my Aende build, so the frame is still hung in the garage.

Best experiences in terms of sending have been DPD, but I tend to send most stuff by Royal Mail/Parcelforce, who's service has got much worse over the last 2-3 years, but it is still the least inconvenient for me to use and reasonably priced (Parcelforce through senditnow/parcel2go).

Been waiting since last Thursday for my Hermes to deliver my parcel , lied about 1st attempted delivery ,
online said would try again in 24 hours
midday Friday next day someone is yanking main security door open ,i live in block of flats with door entry system
its an African dude with trolley trying to enter my block ,hes says hes from my Hermes wants number 11
i say if well if no answer person is not in ,he then bangs on my other neighbor who has broken foot and leaves 5 large parcels
does not take a signature ,i ask if he has my parcel as online tracking states to be delivered today ???
he pauses and says he knows the parcel it got wet the previous day and he couldn't read the address. ( alarm bells ring)So i go online for live chat 1st operator cuts me off after waiting 35 minutes to get though.
then my neighbor phones me to say the 5 parcels left were from a address half a mile down road .
we them drive parcels to a grateful lady who has been on the phone to my Hermes their saying her parcels were signed off..
so weekend goes no parcel delivered no tracking details updated
i message eBay seller with my concerns he messages my Hermes for update
i wait 35 minutes for 2nd live chat , im told its awaiting delivery
then thought id check my Hermes tracking it now say parcel delivered on Friday 2.45 in afternoon
Theirs is a scribble for signature its not mine ,
I saw the driver on Friday delivering parcels to wrong address
Dont know where i stand as seller and eBay will say its been signed for
blatant stupidity or theft im not sure . But fraudulent yes ....
Worst company going>>>> rant over

Used them once for some cranks from Germany, after 5 days they went missing in Germany, only to be sent back to the sender, who reposted them, then the delivery driver posted them to a neighbour opposite which is all well & good , but the card stated an address down the next street, which needless to say when I went to pick it up they, rightly swore they'd never seen it !!! I went back home & called customer services only to be on the phone for 3 hours being passed back & forth with no progress being made whatsoever in the end I hung up in frustration. The next day the guy from across the road turned up with my package !! Hereme's can be a nightmare if it all goes wrong, I loathe to use them .

:D Well parcel arrived today from myHermes after threatening with police and fraud.
From having my parcel apparently delivered and signed for last Friday.
They happened apon it in the depot .. 4-days later
I nearly lost the will to live .

as has been stated, the local delivery guy is the key. I have had good ones and bad ones. The last one that got me really fuming was I had ordered a hornby set for my boy and came home from work to find it behind the gate, the locked gate meaning it had been dropped over. And it was raining so the whole thing was wet. Yay!

Current lass has a habit of knock and run, doesn't even wait for you to open the door just knocks / rings and lobs it over the gate. Scared the hell out of her when I popped my head around the gate to ask why someone was throwing parcels at me.

Before that was a young Scot who was really good, you could actually read his writing about where the parcel had been left and he made an effort to put it somewhere safe and dry. I liked him.

But yeah, had a few instances of them leaving parcels on the doorstep. I found a couple but expect this is where some of those mysterious delivered but not delivered ones have gone missing.
