yep 4.30 and the chat of no work and no money  so ive 4 weeks to sort somthing out. ive been thinking of starting my own gardening business so this may be the shove that i need to get that in motion.

Cheers all Steve

Its getting towards the 1 year anniversary of the day I was made redundant. (thankfully I had a 3 month notice period on my contract...which helped) All I can say is keep hope and things will pick up.

I was lucky and was stuck on a gardening contract which gave me time to recover and take time out from the world...

i lost my job five years ago, seemed like the end of the world at the time......i set up my own buisness,i work like a horse seven days a week but i wouldnt change it......the darkest hour is just before dawn and all that.....good luck,go and make it work!!!

If you do go for it, do a bit of research, get some idea of the minimum you need to live on, how much eqt you need, what the competition charges & earns. Once you get going give your customers what they ask for - plus a little bit extra, then you w,ill never be short of work because they will tell their friends.

In short spend some time writing a decent business plan & track your progress against it - modify & update it as circumstances change. Good luck. Remember when self-employed you are only as good as your last job - so you can't afford to leave a customer unhappy. But not all customers are good customers!

yo know steve that gardening idea may well be a winner. my mum is early retired and started up with a few small cards in shop windows advertising gardening services...mainly doing odd jobs for old foggies who couldnt do it anymore. just a few half days for some extra cash. she is well busy now and back working full time with her own van.

Gardening is good but will never make you rich, and it is very sesonal, and as you can see looking out of the window its coming to the end of the season for this time of work. Ive workind in the horticulture industy since I left school half a life time ago, PM if you have any questions. I think this is what Lollypop does for a living might be worth PMing her for a few pointers.
