So what do you do when you want a as new Deore XT rear derailleur and Deore thumbshifters, well you buy a full bike lol and in this case a time warp Offroad Proflex 552 which has barely turned a wheel since new.
Apart from the perished elastomers for the rear which squished soon as you sat on the bike everything is perfect, some of the brake blocks still have the raised knobbles so the brakes have barely been used basically everywhere you look on the bike is just new.

I'm now left with a conundrum with what to do with it, i sort of like its looks which are growing on me but i've never really been a fan of full suss retrobikes apart from the GT RTS and Steve Peats Verlicchi the others have never interested me.

Anyway it shows that there's still time warp machines hiding away to be found.

This is always my problem, buying parts bikes and then having second thoughts. Unfortunately these Pro-Flex jobbies don't really have a following, and replacing the suspension consumables is a thing as well.

I understand the quandary. It's mint, splitting feels wrong, but the bike as a whole is an acquired taste.

Personally I would list it for sale on here, with a bit of a mark up to make the whole endeavor worthwhile and fund the purchase of the parts you bought it for, and see if anyone who's going to love it for what it is wants to stump up a fair price for it.

If it sells it's a win win. If it doesn't sell on here you probably won't sell it anywhere.

You will have done the right thing, tried to keep it complete by passing it on to a genuine enthusiast, but none stepped up. If at that point it hasn't worked its way into your affections, part it out. It's only a lovely bike if you love these Proflex, otherwise it's just parts looking for the perfect frameset.
