Office based bike repairs...advice please

yeah i was thinking that
make sure you tell them its no liability to you and is strictly casual (but you are good!)

cant suggest much as most has been mentioned
but
what about doing a free assesment
i.e 'can you fix my bike at lunch' 'no but i can come and assess it today and fix it tomorrow' (or that day if your sure you have the time)
a loaner is a good option as suggested
but like i said - do it as a 'friend' for cheap(er)
remember if you go ahead with it to leave yourself enough time for lunch aswell!
maybe you could take their bike home and do it of an evening if it would take to long (if you didnt mind that is) as i cant see every problem being fixed within a lunch time
also, maybe strip one of your bikes (and time each bit) and then put it back together again (and time that too), to see how long you actually take for things
planning will help you lots it seems

im very interested in this as it something im semi considering myself (if only i could drive!) :(

.

Sounds like a stroke of genius to me :D
I get very bored in my lunch breaks and am currently using them to finish a nice new large cage for my growing pooch :D

Kestonian is doing it in Singapore and it works really well .

I was going to do it for kids bikes, after or before christmas , would be easy money . was thinking of advertising on netmum and other sites like that .

but liability insurance stopped me .

Be interested to see it when you have it done, I need to make some custom sized and am still at the design stage.

:)

At our place you can't do anything in the car park without Risk assessments etc - it "invalidates our insurance"
We've had guys had to move their cars onto the road to get the windscreens replaced.

Would I also need to be Cytech approved in order to gain the public liabillity insurance?

No. Some insurance companies will charge you a higher premium if you're not approved. Other's don't care and don't recognise it as making any difference what so ever. Shop around. Chances are things will be fine and you'll never need it but sods law says if you don't get it some numpty will blame you for their own halfwittedness
