On an old Trek 8000. Any idea what model this is? Tips on getting it adjusted properly? It is funky - has the cable attached to a bolt on the seat tube/BB
Iirc its a normal front mech, with an adapter kit to enable toptube routing without using the little wheel - which was what the frame boss was fitted for - to which the cable end is now attached.
One of my colleagues remembers fitting these to bikes new .
Tbh it wasn't much cop, the wheel is probably better:
Less outer to crush, and the force is applied as designed by shimano.
But it's an interesting piece of history - so you'll just have to live with it.
Standard mech, with an adapter for the outer cable. Trek frames don't have a cable stop for the outer, they used this method instead with the specific outer
