its got to be better than a raleigh activator II
Bold statement, is that "better" or not as bad.

In the same sense as chlamydia is better than gonorrhoea but not as bad as syphillis.

To further drag out the analogy this bike is just like an STD in that you wouldn't want your friends to know you have one and you'd sore and raw after just one ride.

Loving this, so bad bikes are like std's on this thread and on another good bikes are compared to drugs. I think too much of peeps personal lives are leaking out on here

They made the same model, same name as a full rigid bike as well.
Once apparently sold on ebay not so long ago

My first thoughts was this bike must be some far east production, Pacyfic or Cycletech perhaps. However doesn't ring a bell about forks. They remind me a early Checker Pig type of forks.

Edit: Eh, just noticed Pacyfic handlebars, we have a winner :P

good dective work

its close to that pacific, not the same tho, but at least we have an answer.

petemcc, you tread a fine line.

I'm not defending the bike at all but have you anything else to contribute except pictures of forklifts and std analogies :?:

im for one astonshed that after growing up with the cheap to mid range mtb side of the brand that I've never seen or heard of this machine, even if it was a pacific.

Cycletech and Pacyfic were decent Taiwanese bike producers at that time. Both had similar elastomer suspension design. Pacyfic is a huge company, bought bankrupt GT along with Schwinn and few others.

LGF you were right by the way!

so it was made by pacific, this one was badge engineered by claud butler, why didn't they market it?

I beleive it istn't just re-badged Pacyfic but made to order especially for Claud Butler. CB had strong connections with Taiwan from beginning and really can't tell any of them were made in UK, even in early days.

Engineered in England- maybe, made in far east.
