Some may know that I have a soft spot for Rourke's. I like the quality, the lightness and the way they ride.

This seems to have rubbed off on my daughter and when she said she wanted a good steel bike and then started looking on the bay for suitable frames, you can imagine my delight when she bought.... a Rourke.

It's a 2002 (I think) frame and forks, in Reynolds 853, and the build is of course modern and light, with some hints of old stuff, like the Cinelli bars.

Running gear is the same as I have on mine, SRAM Force22, stem Cinelli, seatpost Thompson, wheels Mavic somethingoranotherunpronounceable, which come out at around 1550g the pair.

All up weight 8.4kgs.

How does it ride? Very nicely apparently.

Some first pre ride photos.

The name on the top tube is not hers of course, but that of the original owner.... a man of obvious good taste.

Re:

The original plan was that she was going to build it, with assistance / supervision from dad.

The reality was, frame and boxes of bits arrive at my place, and three and a half hours later we have a bike.

She likes Fizik bar tape, which is the only tape I have wrapped that has absolutely no give at all. Strange stuff to wrap, but it looks and feels nice.
