Come on, I'm not the only one am I ?............CONSIDER this.......... people born 125 years (whole population of the world) bar a couple of Japanese are dead now........and 125 years before that and so on and so ............not everybody is cremated...lots are burried.......so where are all the graves man ???? it's freaking me out :shock: :shock: :shock: there should be bodies everywhere......?????

Meat pies, that thing every town it seems, seems to have as legendary.







Perhaps the pies are the soylent green of the future.

Once a human body is reduced just to bones it does not take up much room. Graves were re-used several times and most people, apart from those that could afford it, were buried in mass graves well into the 20th century.

In medeival times graves were used until the flesh had rotted from the bones which were then dug up and stacked in Ossuaries. Thus many bodies passed through small parish graveyards.

This still happens in many countries where burial space is at a premium, and Greece is one of them. The bodies are exhumed after about four years, the bones cleaned and often washed in wine (by family members) and then they are stored in boxes in an "οστεοφυλάκιο" οr ossuary, which is usually a small building in a corner of the graveyard.
The boxes were traditionally made of wood but now they're mostly steel, with a little holder for a name card and/or photograph. You can buy the boxes at any ecclesiastical emporium

Everyone in the world can fit on the Isle of White but there wouldn't be room for anyone to sit down. Well that was the case when I was at school, there are a few more people now so I guess it's not true anymore. :roll:
