Not Exactly Gravel

More CCM history, not necessarily connected to this frame, but the heritage of the brand is driving the theme of the build. Meet "Torchy" Peden.

He was more man than I.
"In 1925, he began intensive training, cycling 25 to 30 miles every evening after a full day’s work at the local logging camp."
Perhaps better paid than I as well, apparently, among the highest paid athletes in the world during the Great Depression

This was his ride:

I can get my hands on one of those adjustable stems that he's running, but I'm not sure if my back can handle it. Note how the curve of the bars matches the curve of his spine

A reminder that I haven't forgotten

And pains me to see this blank, void space
Was wondering the other day if anyone would notice... The build has gone into hibernation. Not even delightful haiku will awaken it. The threads on the fork are good and mashed from the industrial extraction of the stem, so I've sent it out for repairs. If that doesn't work out, I'll have to wait for things to thaw before I can get to the good spots for replacement. We're under a few feet of snow right now.

Of course I'd notice, been very excited for this build and still am. Shame about the fork, fingers crossed though.

I suppose us Europeans have to remember you fellas basically live in a glorified icebox for a good bit of the year, so it makes sense that people put projects aside during winter.

Suppose you could always try to get a temporary fork until you hear back, but I guess that's even hard with the weather.

Snowshoe delivery!
