Not a Zaskar

Yes, it is not a Zaskar, most likely a Tempest or similar as it was made from 7005 series Aluminium, see stamp on drop out.
One of the oldest tricks I'm sure - do they believe it themselves or just hope someone else will fall for it? Take stickers off and suddenly it's worth exactly 101 times more?
Must admit though - many years ago I learned the hard way on these, young and naive, without the help of the internet. Luckily the rest of the shed was worth the overall price. It wasn't even worth the usual 99p once I discovered it had a sticker hiding the crack in the head tube.

I paid £50 for a '98 Tempest frame, 16" and made from 6061 aluminium, it makes for a nice ride. Probably paid more than I should have but it was worth it to me. While cosmetically not perfect, I still like it, it's about the same weight as a Zaskar of that same year. (The '98 Zaskar had the same colour decals as the Tempest)
But yeah, people who are not clued up will try anything. I have learned a lot since I bought that frame. And I still have it, built up as a BMX/MTB hybrid and it makes for a nice ride!

Pantera was 7005, wasn't it?

I would argue that there is no subterfuge at work here. That the seller is just misinformed.
He seems to think 7005 and a rounded end to the top tube are Zaskar identifying features. Even though most people with even basic knowledge will know that those are the first things that will identify it as something else.

yes, I don't know if they ever were made from 6061 aluminium, but I have seen at least the Tempest appear as both 7005 and 6061.
The first Pantera from 1992 was 7000, not 7005, I am not sure how much of a difference it made, it could be in the way the tubes were butted.

Oh, I just remembered this one in my watchlist here, a '98 Pantera made from 6061 aluminium, that is an oddity. 😁

Great. Nice one. Thanks for that. I'm trying my best to get rid of frames I've had and never done anything with then stuff like this pops up, perfect for the job M739 stuff I have buried in the garage.
