I was just about to rant about the price, then I had a think about it..

m900 cranks in very good condition on here (or ebay) normally around £100+

Then for the genuine rings (2nd hand) you might be looking at £50+, and these are for worn parts.

My memory is a bit hazy, but I guess bitd if you wanted to buy these new they were possibly around the £200 mark??

Yeah, there's a bit of a mark-up (to say the least) but I guess these are brand new, and what are this years xtr chainsets retailing at??

I think they're a lot of money, don't get me wrong, but I think looking at it logically, they're not wildly outlandish? ? ?

Shame they're not in the UK...

Hmm.. They're a bit steep considering no box etc.

around $ 450-500 US, depending on where you shop. That would be in the £275-300 region

I'm not sure what to think about the prices of the really nice/NOS stuff, but what I find very interesting is how cheaply you can get M900 cranksets that are less than perfect. I've seen scuffed but good examples go on US ebay for less than $40-usually less than a good-but-not-great XT 737 (or even the black LX cranksets of the same era) sells for these days.

XTR M980 cranks are the best looking Shimano crank since M900 IMO.
