So the fact that this is an LX M569 ring and not an XT M739 does not surprise me.

is it? i though 569 had a black "ring"

It looks black to me. To be fair, it's a really weird photo. We're clearly looking at the outside, but the carriers at the bottom look to be behind the ring, whereas at the top they're in front. Also the teeth look worn to me, and no longer black. I have a new in packet M569 here (and an M739) and the M569 teeth are pure black, the M739 pure silver.

Yep, that is an XT 'ring. The logo is etched in black, as opposed to the LX 'ring having a metallic red/silver sticker (the IG label). Just had a look at a couple of my LX/XT's to compare.

I'm thinking it's not the best photo in the world, so because of the flash it looks a bit dark.
