Evening all

IIRC this is the one that didnt reach reserve, which must have been high judging by what the bids were up to when it ended.
I would have bid but my budget was gone with five days still to go
Still watching this time

Did he buy it on ebay?

Correct that it did not reach the reserve last time he tried to sell. I did ask how much he would accept, not cheap I can tell you.

One thing - if it is 100% nos then why are there ugly marks on the dropouts from the rear QR?

Sometimes bikes are built up, never sold, and never ridden. If it's NOS-never-a-wheel-clamped-in-the-dropouts-NOS, I'd advertise that.

Lol, what's the purpose of the term NOS then? In my eyes, a frameset that is said to be new old stock should be just that, never used, never built. If it has been built, it is not new, someone has already put their greasy, filthy, stinkin' hands on her. Not a virgin anymore.. ;)

NOS means "New Old Stock", it doesn't mean not-ever-built-up. If you see a bike on a shop floor, it's still new, as in never ridden yet you wouldn't think the shop dishonest for selling it as new. The "OS" part means it's been sitting around for a long time. If that built-up bike sat for 15 years, unridden, it would be NOS.

There are some NOS parts that have a few nicks in them and then you would say "NOS but shop-worn" (as in, it was sitting in a drawer of other stems and has a few marks). However it's still new as in not ridden.

That said, a bike that has never had a wheel clamped in the dropouts is guaranteed to be NOS but a bike with a wheel clamped in it, well it is possible someone built it up and rode it some. Recently, there have been a couple of bikes that were advertised as "NOS...less than 100 km", that is clearly a misuse of the term.

Especially as he says it has never been built up...
