Rare as hens eggs

No bids yet...

and at that price it'll be the bids that are as rare as hens teeth.

A perfect analagy would be white dog shites. They were everywhere 20 years ago. They were in the playing fields, in the park, ruining the fun that everyone could have had were they not there.
Thankfully they are rare today - nobody misses them except a few mentals who probably have their mothers heads in their fridge. And even though white dog shites are rare these days, doesn't mean anyone would pay heavily on ebay for one.

That was a shite bike back then and only cost a ton or so so why would a bare frame ever make that much when 99% of it kind are righfully in a landfill. Anyone who buys or builds one now should be pointed at and laughed at for being an idiot.
Retro that aint, it's just white dog shite

And if you give me a drink or two, I'll tell you what I really think of bikes like that appearing on this website, without pulling the punches.

I bet somebody round my neck of the woods buys it, turns it into a fixed gear and tries to sell it for £600...seems par for the course around here

Agree with you lot but many will have had these as their first mtb so someone could well be tempted with it being nos and all.

Funny thing was my one of my early bike was the precursor to this. The only good thing was that it gave me the drive to get a Saturday job when I was 12 and to save up for a proper bike - you don't know how good things can be until you know how bad they can be.

People often say that Raleigh has a lot to be thanked for as it got people into bikes but I'd say that ours was the first generation where people were actually put off the sport by their first bikes and that is down to Raleigh band wagon jumping and trying to flip a quick profit.
Its the same case with a lot of girls, loads are pestered into trying the sport by their boyfriends who go out and buy a cheapo bike like this, a 40lb monster with bad steering, rubber brakes and a concrete saddle. End result-bike goes into the garage and stays there, girlfriend never tryings cycling again.
