I do not know how Pieter or other people do it, but in case I would ship a full bike, I would opt for two boxes, resulting in 2x 28 euros if you go through DPD.

DPD is 28 euro to UK, cheaper than TNT!
But the sizes of a box are shortened:
a box's maximum is: length max 150 cm and circumference + length max 300 cm. You can use one box if you strip the bike: release saddle, wheels, handlebar and stem, frontbrake, crankset, rear derailleur from the frame. Buyers have to rebuild their bike (most buyers don't object, as one said: Ï'm from the IKEA generation...).
On the moment I have a full bike packed in a box 102 x 22 x 69 cm
(circumference = 282 cm)
