As this thread is FUBAR i may as well chip in. Yes those eBay.com ones are 'only' $37, but once you factor in shipping, duty and the parcel force handling fee, they'll actually cost at least £42 to the UK.
Sure you can gamble on them flying under the customs radar, but i wouldn't count on it.

Thank you 'Tallpaul' I really appreciate that mate. You're right, the cranks were for sale in the states for $40, I then paid $32.50 for shipping and £17.45 for handling/customs charges. Grand total £53.73. I then figured a postage charge of £5 would be about on the money for re posting and came up with £60 which I duly dropped to £50. I also opened this up to offers so I don't think I was being unreasonable. Also I struggled to find a single decent pair of these cranks in the uk, which was why I imported them. As they have now been expertly devalued by 'ameybrook', if anyone wants them for £35 feel free to pm me, otherwise ill put them in a cupboard.....!
As i've discovered to my cost, retro parts are only worth what someone is prepared to pay. So i may have been desperate for a particular item and paid through the nose to get it, but when it came to selling it on there was no demand and i let it go for significantly less.
Sorry it all went a bit funny, we all have access to prices in the world now thanks to the net and eghey so we're all (most) of us pretty savvy with our purchases FWIW 50% of my bike build came off here, but when stuff dont sell its good to know why. I'm currently trying to sell stuff on forums and its not easy.
I have car seats in my boot ready to deliver and now buyer has found something else. :-/
Well everything i said was true
I'm extremely interested at £35 as i could only manage a cheeky offer
give me a couple hours this eve and I'll let you know if thats ok?
Thanks guys, I really don't want anyone to think I was trying to get one over on them, was simply asking what I had payed. I appreciate that maybe they were worth more to me than their real worth, maybe I paid over the odds to get hold of these nos, but we are all into nos old stuff and I didn't see any harm in advertising them for what I paid. The pair 'ameybrook' found would, as 'tallpaul' stated, have cost a very similar amount to bring into the uk. I'll let them go for £35 as there is no point holding onto things i'm not going to use, especially when I still need parts for my builds. Let me know if you want them mr 'reanimation' you have dibs, I may not reply til the morning though as i'm out tonight.
Fenton, I think it's clear you weren't trying to rip anyone off, sometimes people forget how cheap and available things are stateside compared to here.
Sometimes holding on to an item and retrying it in a few weeks/months helps as classifieds are really busy just now.
The problem with retrobits is that they are either worth nothing or a fortune, depending on whether people are competing for them. This is even worse when on ebay.
Rule No1 of capitalism: things are worth what people are prepared to pay for them.
