I've always thought the BMX thing's a bit odd - only because who can fit on one when an adult?! I'd look pretty stupid on a 20" wheel BMX.
Collecting for collecting's sake is generally what chaps do when they reach a certain age. At least with an MTB an adult can use their collection.

You do get different size bmx's, the top tubes come in varying lengths for different size riders. I know you can get 22.5"+ top tubes for riders over 6 foot. My last bmx had a longer tt than some of my mtb's
