Nokia Sports Tracker

Yeah tracked all my rides this year. Only one problem, if you're out too long and the battery dies, you then have no phone..... :?

Saturdays Peak ride here: https://sportstracker.nokia.com/nts/workoutdetail/index.do?id=916581

Looks mint does that!

A few questions:

Did you make use of heartrate? How does that work in terms of sensor?

How long is "Too long"? Just got an upgrade to a Nokia 5800 and will try this on my commute, plus maybe an hour at lunchtime (weather permitting of course).

Can you also put the phone in your jacket pocket or is it one of those apps where you want to be checking your progress on the screen all the time until you ride into a root  ?

Thanks
Jim

I had this for me Nokia N93 (or was that N95? havent used it in a year!) for when I went skiing. The phone didnt have built in GPS, but you can buy a separate bluetooth GPS unit that syncs with the phone and hey presto, with the sports tracker software it all works like a charm - assuming that all the remote locations that you ride in can pick up a GPS signal.

Just got a Nokia E71

Tried the sports tracker on a little ride on Monday, worked well for 5 miles then the application crashed, unknown to me as it was in my rucksack

apart from that nice little bit of software.

I tried it tonight, its way off! when I upload the data into google earth it shows the route I took as going through a small industrial unit up and down the embankment either side of the M1 not to mention crossing the 6 lanes of peak flow traffic! there are a couple of places that it actually shows my route as the one I took! these are the places with the most tree cover so in theory the gps signal should be worse yet it stayed true to the track taken
apart from that it seems like a great bit of software/toy and will provide me with the ammo need to sway my case for a garmin gps unit for the bike

To answer myself:

Heartrate - not looked into it. "Lots" I'd say.
How Long? - Doesn't use a single nugget of battery in an hour. Not ridden more than that yet.
Pocket - Yes, fine.
Accuracy - perfect.

Running on a 5800 with latest firmware.

i have just replaced my nokia n82 with an n79 'active',this comes with a bluetooth heart rate monitor and all integrates into sportstracker, absolutely outstanding bit of kit 8) and before you all ask,NO,you cant buy the belt on its own and use it with any N series phone, thats why i sold my n82...

ps excuse the retro music

edit.my 2000th post!!

I use sport tracker on my E71 and its ok and is fairly accurate route wise, but the maximum speed can show as being a little out as it had me down as doing 53mph on a flat bit of road on my single speed GT...... Not a chance in hell would my fat ass reach that speed
