Noisy Raven

There were some recalls - although I can't tell you what for exactly.

I was searching the internet just the other week for some Cannondale info. and I came across a site listing Cannondale recalls.
I'm sure you'll find some info. if you persevere in looking - if I remember where I found it I'll drop you a line

There were recalls on bottom bracket, headtube and seattube if I remember correctly but all on raven 2 models only.

Was the bottom bracket lubed with anything when fitted?

There was a modification that was sent out to dealers which consisted of a twin syringe and a tube of 2 pack expanding epoxy type stuff. You had to drill a tiny hole into the carbon about 2 inches up from the bottom bracket then pump the contents of the twin syringes into said hole and pop a bit of tape over the wound to stop it from oozing out. I think you may find an archive recall page online if you dig deep enough, if not it may be a struggle getting the info on what the chemical goo was exactly as all the old hands there seem to be long gone.
The goo makes the bike ride a whole lot quieter too. If you are the original owner and have a receipt you may be able to swing a warranty replacement if it is found to be a dicky one as im sure these had a lifetime warranty.

two pack expanding filler foam used by car manufacturers to defeat NVH levels. I used to use this stuff when i worked as a panel beater to replaced OEM filler foam when panels were replaced. Several manufacturers offer this stuff, Lord Fusor, Terostat, 3M. What i can say is they are very noxious, get everywhere, stink to high heaven and are pretty pricey! Work good though, produce a very dense foam and when injected between to panels, reduce "drum skinning' to near zero, so should work perfectly in a hollow carbon frame. I was thinking of using some on my MC Shockwave frame.

hi, thanks for the replies, i wonder if that builders expanding foam would do the job, its a bit messy to work with but the noise is spoiling what is a good bike, might give it a bash :D , probably regret it, its bound to go wrong  .

The Raven can be a noisy frame, it amplifies everything. The 2nd one i had about 2yrs ago had the bb done at some point in its life. There was two small holes with a bit of expanding foam sticking out of them. Even cables creaking sounds a lot worse than normal frames
