How come these Nobby Nic tyres are so popular, not only here on RB but out there with riders on other sites too - what is so special about them?

cos they're a good tyre, light grippy & fairly fast rolling.

I'm using Racing Ralph's at the mo, they're really fast in the dry.

A lot of folks use a Nic up front for more grip with a Ralph out back for lower rolling resistance

what he said they havn't let me down yet and now the've ended up on all my rides in verious sizes :D

let it be said schwalbe make a good tyre

I was a NN sceptic for a long time, thought they were for fashion victims. But since trying them can only agree they are very very good. The NN front RR rear combo is magical. The RR on the rear works in everything, even gloopy wet mud. As already said the NN rolls really well for a chunky tyre. Not cheap, but quality never is.

Hasn't the Rocket Ron replaced the NN?

Must say i like the look of Rocket Ron 1.85 at 380 grams. Not to expensive either. But will they puncture easy?

If you ride on rocky trails, yes they are more prone to punctures than the heavier versions. Tubeless will help reduce punctures from pinch flats as the sidewalls are pretty thin.
