The books "Zinn and the Art of Mountain Bike Maintenance" or "Zinn and the Art of Road Bike Maintenance" covers everything you will ever need.

The Park website as mentioned has tutorials and instructions written on nearly everything.

Failing that look on youtube or just google.

Ask any questions on here, hardly any stick given, like others say, have to learn somewhere... Always better to have a go yourself and learn.

And as Woz says, a search here for items in the for sale if you are unsure of price, or use eBay completed listings as a guide. Unless you have somethign rare, a bike/parts would have sold before to give you guidance.

BB is short for bottom bracket, the mechanism that the chain set is attached to.

A word of warning - if searching for BB be careful not type BBW - that is a totally different thing!!!

Re books - I have the Zinn book and it is great but when it does not provide the detail - I post here. It usually relates to the actual doing of the job even if i think i know how. Hints and tips are truly valuable from people who have done the job. An example - when i started on this slippery slope, I took my Rapide to an LBS to have the headset changed. I watched as they did it and realised i could have done it (in this case probably better). Since that I have changed a few headsets and in the past 3 weeks I have changed four. Without the help from here, the book, youtube I would still be stuck.

In closing, I would say - never be embarrassed about asking a question on here, I have seen some posts where people have added "I wanted to ask that but thought I would look stupid" or similar. So your posts may help others which i think is the best thing about RB.

Looking more and more forward to get my bike home! However I am struggling with paypal - apparently I can't transfer the money for the bike to the seller :facepalm: :evil:

He send me an invoice both through Ebay and through Paypal, and none of them works.
it just says "We cannot send your payment at this time"

It's an old account and I have used it a couple of times the last 6-8 months

Perhaps try it later. I think I may have seen that before and the payment went through but did not register for a while. Try not to pay twice!!

Well, I've tried a good 15 times now but I'm quite confident that the transactions hasn't gone through since I can't get to the stage where you fill in the credit card information etc.

I've send Paypal an email and hopefully they'll respond very soon, because the seller just told me the bike is ready for shipping! And boy, I can't wait to get it!

Well, what is it then?

As a general rule of thumb re bikes: if it's round it tends to move when you go forwards. The other bits help with direction and speed.
