I had a set just like that, except with the original silver/polished barrel adjusters, and sold them to Sithlord here on RB. Really could've used them now :?
Why is so difficult to keep the cable end in the most powerful pull slot in the lever? Am I missing something? I can think of some tricks to do this but a brake lever is the last thing you'd like to fail in your bike

I may go for Paul Love compact in case these levers don't work as expected. I would then use them with XTR V's on a Kona Lava Dome SS so they will be riding anyway!!

the slot closest to the cable entry is for canti brakes , the other one is for V brakes .
when bought new the leevrs were supplied with a small metal bit to stop the cable coming off when in the second slot .
just make one with a bit of metal .
