John, I think yours is earlier, but basically similar. You have some better parts. Raleigh/Carlton main market was the teenage/schoolboy, so had to keep the price down. The bikes had attractive finishes, but mostly cheap parts. Look at the chainwheel on the one you mention, I think it is Nicklin and very basic. It would still be quite decent to ride, especially if you compare with the imitation MTB with its energy absorbing construction.
