I hope our Kiwi contingent are all OK. I think we have one or two from Christchurch. Thoughts are with you. It should make us Brits thankful for living in a geologically dull part of the globe.

Indeed, best wishes to any one affected. Looks quite nasty. Already checked with my Kiwi colleague who had been on the phone all morning checking on kith and kin in the area.

Contacted my old school freind that lives in Christchurch this morn...........she and her family all ok..........but she said tv is saying poss toll to rise to 400 ish...........and everyone is worried about the aftershocks

indeed - thoughts very much with them we have friends there, not been in touch yet.

I've been to the city and it is a beautiful place. Aside from the terrible human loss, it's sad to see iconic buildings affected, like the cathedral spire.

Haven't been to Christchurch since '95/'96 when we used to go to Lyttleton on Box Boats.
