New(ish) forks, SID or Drake?

I've finally seen the light and now accept that my old Manitou Mars are knackered, stanchions worn and loosing oil etc.
I'm on a very tight budget but have been offered 2 different forks - a 2002 Rockshox SID SL or a 2008 Manitou Drake, both for the same price.
So, which is best?
The SID are over 10 years old but over a pound lighter. The Drake are much newer but has technology moved on that much in 5 years?
(they're to go on my old Ballistic HT which is about 24lb, I'm mainly a girly cross country rider, weighing about 12st).
Thanks

I'd probably go for the Drake as they're so much newer. Technology has moved on at a great pace so newer the better imo. Saying that, I don't know where the Drake sits in the range. If they're near the bottom the Sids could be the better option.

What is your budget? Plenty of decent forks about for not a lot of cash.
