The post out blank a couple of times, due to the [/ being missing from the ebay link. Not sure why it caused a completely blank post though?

Thats a nice Stumpjumper!
I ideally wanted a Stumpjumper (in red) but couldn't find one, and previous ones on here that had sold were slightly more than I wanted to pay, considering I would have needed a new BB, headset, forks, seatpost etc.

Can be either, the M2's were alu though.
I have a Alu A1 FS Rockhopper in that very colour and personally would go for a bit of suspension.

I also agree that they are nicest in red and as you can see the Red Bombers are a good match colour wise.

I think I'll buy a Stumpjumper / S-Works if one comes up.

The Rockhopper frame I bought on tuesday apparently hasn't even been posted yet, despite paying for 48 hour delivery :(
So it's going to be at least wednesday before I get it.
I definately need a bike for next monday!

Hi,

The Specialized Rockhopper (my wife had one, I had a blue one too at one point) has a 30.4 seat post size, and suits 80mm travel forks. I have a pair of rigid steel forks from such a frame, but as it was a size 13" I feel the steerer may be too short (I also think the crown race area is not as it should be as crown races fit all too easily). A pic can be seen on readers bike, they were on my old Trek get to work bike for a bit.

I would like a 17" one of those to replace my old Trek, those Rockhoppers along with the late Trek 930's were superb value steel frames.

Hi,

Thanks for the heads up, would prefer steel 17" Ni-tanium version again (it would be for work n such), though my money is tied up for the next month or so anyway.

PS it is a 30.4 without doubt, I have built many of those when they were available, my girls 13" had custom built Manitou SX, with a shim for her control tech post , and full xt was fitted with hope wheels. My own was blue, and fitted with a 30.4 post, my friend has a 19" and it also is fitted with a 30.4.

All steel specialized of that era were 30.4 with alloy and M2 bikes being 30.9. The only bike to have a 30.0 back then would have been Marin or Raleigh if I remember correct? If yours has a 30.0 then it has been overtightened.

I havn't got the frame yet, so I don't know about the size.
What I meant was the person who sold it to me told me it was one size and then another, also someone on here said it was yet another size!
There's a local shop thats sells shims so I'll just take the frame to them when it arrives.

Thanks.
