Hi

I need some local knowledge of New Forest Rides, off road/mixed up to 20/25 miles.

And a set of point that is relatively safe to leave my car.

Thanks

Plenty to choose from. My favourite is from Fritham,
over Hampton Ridge to Frogham, along the old airfield at Stoney Cross,
down Slufters Enclosure, under the A31 at Bratley Arch.
Pay my respects at the Canadian War Memorial, then down past Bolderwood Farm to Burley Street.
Dodge off right before the A31 at Picket Post, through the tunnel then drop to Linford Bottom.
Climb back through Roe and Milkham Enclosure then past the Red Shoot and back to Fritham. Alternatively drop through High Wood to South Gorley and back.

Sounds like a nice route, what the rough mileage/effort like. My brother is a 'reborn' cyclist so don't want to kill him :)

Re:

Talk to Jonnyboy666 on here, he runs Jons bike shop in the New Forrest and has loads of local knowledge.

Re:

dave, i do shop rides on a tuesday night starting from the shop at SO45 1UB, 6pm start, usually 22miles with a pub stop at about 8pm, sensible pace meaning we go as fast as out slowest member. the ride is as much off road as possible and we try an avoid roads and gravel tracks in favour of traditional offroad riding, not single track as such but properly out in the forest.

another option is the Boost Bike Hub (formerly cyclexperience, same people just a rebadge of the brand) in brockenhurst you can call them on 01590 624204l, they have route maps all starting from the shop, my favourite of their routes is the Burley route, 22 miles, i used to use it as a training loop, it's a mix of country lanes and gravel tracks, all easy to follow.

:)
