NEW CHRIS KING HEADSET.

The top cap looks more like the genuine ones than the fakes seen thus far, but I agree with above, need to see the insides really.

If ever there was a reason to go to a proper reputable bike shop then this is it.
As usual in life, you get what you pay for and there are no short cuts.

fakes

Just ask the seller to warrant its a genuine King and that he can vouch for it? Often the most direct route, is the best option.

king

Was not aware there were fake CK headsets out there!
Anyone knows there are fake Chris King hubs as well?
Hope not....

so if they can fake headesets, what other things are they faking? a bit off topic but a mate of mine had a clone of a nokia n95 8gb when they came out, he paid £90 and you wouldnt know the difference apart from the crap software and camera!

IIRC there are some Ritchey handlebars and stems that are fakes on eBay. If it is too good, it is often too good to be true.

Many taiwan/china factories sell their own versions of products they make for companies, such as the 250 dollar carbon frames everybody is talking about.

So maybe this is a clone of a far-east CK-proto that never went into production? :)

if they are the own versions the surely they will be almost as good a s the real deal for a fraction of the cost? unless its just plain cloned and crap at that

As a car enthusiast i have similar encounters fairly often, what seems to be a direct clone from a factory who makes products for a more reputable/higher end company often are made with much lower standards and with cheaper materials. God forbid you crack a headset cup going down a hill at 30mph...this is just not something that i would skimp on
