new breezer lightning mtb

Wicked news ! :D

Can't help thinking there should always be a a fully rigid Lightning in the range though..

Nah, looks like its aping an alloy bike such as a spesh especially where the downtube joins the headtube and the seatstay bend just before the dropouts. Mind you I'm just a retrogrouch apparently

I like lugged steel.....sad I know

I was talking with Joe Breeze about the new bikes yesterday, and he said that the reason for the bend in the downtube is to provide clearance for the 100mm fork's travel. Also, the new bikes will come in a steel frame and a slightly lighter aluminum frame.

Hey Pat if you speak to mr Breeze again, give him a nudge about doing a nice rigid fork!

The old Lightning was IMHO the most 'all-of-a-piece' and balanced handling rigid bike going.
-I wouldn't swap mine for anything.

the curved down tubes makes it easier for the bikes to pass the new european tests on safety .

I spoke some more with JB and he said that the Steel frame is going to be available as a complete bike OR as a frame only. At this point, however, he is looking for a Distributer in England and until he finds one, you will probably have to get them from another country. Someone else asked what the California Republic sticker is for, and it is the place where the Breezer's are born. I also asked him about a ridgid fork and he said that a 440mm ridgid would be the right length for the frame and they are considering offering one.

Sorry for breathing life in to a month old thread but that's gorgeous. I think I've found next years bike.

Surely the downtube is bent to provide clearance for the fork crown?

We've built a few 853's with straight downtubes and they fit the new crop adjustable 3" to 6" single crown forks no problem. I can't understand why the downtube has been bent.

I love Breezers and feel they should offer a 'regular' frame without all this bent pipe tomfoolery!
