Hi, been visiting for a while and thought I`d sign up.
Started riding early 90`s with various bikes, finished up in 97 with my current bike.
It`s a 1997 Marin Rift Zone. At least the frame is. Everything else was upgraded over time until 5 years ago when I stopped riding. Just completely lost interest. I think I basically burnt out. I was riding 10 hours plus each week and if I didn`t I felt really bad. I was riding for ridings sake, to keep my fitness up and not for the enjoyment. Don`t know why cos I never raced, only did the SD Randonee.
Anyway, 3 or 4 months ago got invited out by a mate and decided to give it a go. Blew off the cobwebs and had a great time. Really surprised how fit I was too - although I work outside and am always on the move.
Having bought MBR it seems things have moved on a lot in 5 years, at least in terms of technology, making my `up to the minute` bike look very dated. Spec is as Brit as poss with a mix of Pace, Hope, Middleburn, USE. Rear shock is the fantastic Cane Creek AD10. There was still the same air in it 5 weeks ago as there was when I last really used it 5 years ago!
Being so old it didn`t have a rear disc mount so a mate who just happened to make carbon fibre bits for McLaren, made me up a carbon mount that bolts on to the swing arm.
Having fun getting my trail skills back now, and no intention of changing what is still a fantastic bike.
