A genuinely, heartbreaking sale of my much-loved Neil Orrell tourer
I bought this just over a year ago with the intention of keeping it forever, but having just aquired something that I absolutely couldn't turn down and having no space, coupled with the fact that it is so nice and I wouldn't want to damage it, I have come to the sad conclusion that I have to part with it.
It is a 1979 Neil Orrell tourer made from Reynolds 531 ST (special touring) tubing, completely refurbished by Neil a few years ago and painted red/white/red fade with white lug lining and nice details to the lugs with a pinstripe design on the seat stay caps......beautifully done.
The frame measures 23 1/2" centre of BB to the top of seat tube and has a chromed fork crown, 3/4 chromed front forks and half chromed rear triangle....the drop outs are horizontal and are Campagnolo.
The headset is Shimano 105, the brakes/shifters are Campagnolo Veloce 9-speed, the rear mech is Campagnolo Mirage 9-speed with a Suntour cyclone front mech.
The chainset is an SR Aerox 172.5 with 46/36/28 rings, giving a very nice mix of gears when coupled with the 9 speed rear cassette of 13-26.
The wheels are 27x 1/4 ....the rear is a Campag Mirage hub, weinmann alessa rim and 36 stainless steel spokes with a campag Q/R skewer. The front is an unknown, probably Sachs hub, but good quality hub, with Weinmann Alessa rim and 36 Stainless steel spokes....both are perfectly true and smooth.
The bars and stem are both Cinelli, the stem being 120mm and the very desirable old oval logo....I'll check what type of Cinelli bars thay are, but they are wrapped in red Cinelli leather tape..it has Esge Thermoplastic mudguards on and a Blackburn alloy rack and comes with the red spd pedals but not the Brooks in some of the pictures.....It should have the Turbo pictured, but if I can't find it to swap, it will come without a saddle (or the computer)
The serial number is available from me should you wish to contact Neil Orrell and verify that what I say is true.
Have a look at the pictures......you would not be able to get a comparable bike to this for less than about £2000 ish.....I'm asking £550 collected or more to post (another £25)
I will listen to offers, but don't insult me as I'll put it in the loft if no one is interested as I really love this bike.....
