Hello and Merry Xmas to everyone here.

I have managed to get myself an old 1991 Kona Lavadome frame with project 2 forks yesterday and it will be my first and only project to make it as a road bike as I have my Cannondale for off road, I have got 101 questions to ask! but will start a few.

1. The frame and forks have alot of marks, I want to have it resprayed by Argos soon, it got purple frame with black forks, it's best to have it done with the orginal colours or do the colours you fancy for yourself?

2. I would like to buy decals as the same it came with the frame, alot of people mention Gil_m is the man for this, does he have a website where I can contact him for the decals?

3. The frame have a few small rust spots, nothing bad or any holes, just on the surface in very small patches, what is the best way to treat it, it's best for me to strip the paint off myself and treat the rusts before taking to Argos to reduce the cost or it's best let Argos do the whole lot, like stripping paint off and sorting out the rusts before respraying?

4. I am looking to have riser handerbars, old style stem and seatpost all in chrome finish, is there a company that do all of them like Race face, Syncros, etc... most bike shops and ebay tend to have them in black colour, but prefer chrome myself.

5. Last question for now, do you know where or what make to get the four screws/nuts that goes on the frame which hold the water bottle cages, I have two on it and the other two is missing.

Thanks for reading and any helps will be greatly appricated as I am new to this, I will take some pics of the frame before I start working on it and some more when I finish it, I will put the pics on here when it's all finished.

Big thanks to Boy Burning and cce for some of your answers, I am more likely to have it resprayed same colour as the orginal one.

A few more questions again!!

6. What is the size on the seatpost opening as I am looking to buy a new seatpost for it soon.

7. Do you have to use a shim in the tube for the seatpost?, I had one came with the frame but it's knacked.

Thanks Guy
